About Us

Sippy Films is an independent studio focused on producing, financing, and distributing premium content for a global audience.

Founded in 1951 by legendary film producer G.P. Sippy, Sippy Films has produced many of Indian cinema's most memorable films over the course of seven decades, including Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay, Shaan, and Saagar.

The company has launched many of today's stars and acting legends including Shah Rukh Khan, Rajesh Khanna, Babita Kapoor, Sonia Sahni, Amjad Khan, and Raveena Tandon.

Sippy Films has continuously pushed the boundaries of Indian filmmaking. In 1953, it introduced Gevacolor (a color motion picture process) in the film Shahenshah. In 1975, the company released Sholay - the first Indian film in 70mm along with stereophonic six-track sound. It was also the first Indian film to utilize a foreign action and camera crew.

In 1986, the company ventured into television with the successful series Buniyaad - based on the struggles endured during India's partition.

Today, Sippy Films strives to continue the vision its founder established; by producing high quality content, introducing new talent, and pushing the boundaries of storytelling through the use of new technology.
